The Artists In Residence Program (ARP) in collaboration with ARTWORKS, invited 8 Fellows from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Artist Fellowship Program to participate in the 5th edition of ARP in May 2021.
This year the program was held between May 23-30 2021 and focused on the medium of photography. Its purpose was to offer the invited artists a high standard environment, ensuring the necessary time and space to be inspired, to explore new perspectives, to experiment, meet artists and representatives of the arts community and enjoy a great stay with special topography, combining work and relaxation away from noise of the city and everyday life.
The invited artists had the opportunity to delve into the photographic medium in an environment that acts as a source of stimulus. The program also included a rich program aimed at getting the artists acquainted with the hotel as well as with the wider area, its special history, its archeological and religious background.
During their stay at the hotel and as part of the ARP, the artists had the opportunity to enjoy a rich program of activities (excursions, hiking, guided tours, group meals, etc.) to get acquainted with their surroundings. At the same time, in cooperation with ARTWORKS, presentations, lectures and workshops were organized to provide participants with the opportunity of creatively enhancing their relationship with photography.
All of the above aimed at encouraging the creative process, the fruitful socializing between the participants, the exchange of views and the cultivation of synergies.
The invited artists were: Apollonas Glykas, Ilektra Maipa, Stefania Orfanidou, Natalia Papadopoulou, Antonis Theodoridis, Maria Tsagkari, Nikolas Ventourakis and Yorgos Yatromanolakis.
Curator of the 5th ARP was Aliki Tsirliagou, curator and Director of Nitra Gallery - Athens / Thessaloniki.
